A briefing on "Goals, objectives, achievements and prospects of CARICC as a regional mechanism to counter the drug threat" was held in Ashgabat on 12 September.
The briefing, organised by the Central Asian Regional Information and Coordination Centre (CARICC) jointly with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, gathered representatives of relevant ministries and agencies of Turkmenistan, heads and experts of diplomatic missions and international organisations accredited in Turkmenistan.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Myahri Byashimova spoke at the event. She noted that Turkmenistan will continue to actively promote international and regional cooperation in overcoming modern threats and challenges, including within the framework of CARICC projects.
CARICC Director A. Yazlyev and Regional Representative of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime O. Stolpe also spoke at the opening of the briefing.
During the event, the participants heard presentations on the results of CARICC's work at the regional and international levels, as well as considered opportunities to expand cooperation in countering international drug trafficking.
