On 16 September 2024, Deputy Foreign Minister Ahmed Gurbanov met with a delegation of the World Trade Organization (WTO) headed by Director of the WTO Accession Department Maika Oshikawa at the building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
During the meeting, the sides discussed topical issues of intensifying cooperation in the context of Turkmenistan's accession to the WTO.
The interlocutors reviewed Turkmenistan's plans to realise the tasks related to the preparatory measures for WTO accession. Thus, Turkmenistan is currently carrying out active domestic work on the preparation of the Memorandum on Foreign Trade Regime. At the same time, the participants noted the consistent work of the Interdepartmental Governmental Commission to study issues related to WTO accession.
At the end of the meeting, the participants exchanged views on priority issues related to the prospects of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the WTO.
