At the enlarged session of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan held on February 7 of this year, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov particularly emphasized the importance of successful implementation of the development program of the oil and gas industry aimed at strengthening its production and export capacity. In this context, a key condition is the identification and efficient utilization of existing opportunities within the sector’s production structures. The ongoing work at the “Goturdepe” field, carried out by the oil and gas production department of the State Concern "Türkmennebit", confirms the successful fulfillment of the set targets.
In recent years, this department – continuously undergoing technical and economic modernization – has consistently held leading positions among numerous enterprises engaged in oil, gas, and hydrocarbon extraction, drilling of exploratory and production wells, hydrocarbon transportation via pipelines, construction and reconstruction of fields, gas compressor stations, regulation facilities, overhaul and underground well repairs, as well as construction of industrial and socio-cultural facilities.
During the first two months of this year, declared the International Year of Peace and Trust, the department's specialists fulfilled 106% of the oil production plan from operating wells. This figure accounts for almost one-third of the total volume of hydrocarbons produced by the concern during this period. Compared to the same period last year, 9,740 tons more oil were produced, indicating a significant increase in production growth rates. The natural gas production plan was fulfilled by 135%.
These fields, development of which will mark 70 years next year, are among the largest oil and gas reservoirs in Central Asia. The Goturdepe oil and gas production department has consistently maintained a leading position in national oil production since its establishment. Notably, nearly half of all oil extracted in Turkmenistan over the past century and a half has come from these fields.
Today, systematic efforts are being made to revive the glorious history of these resource-rich territories and achieve new milestones. Enterprises of the "Türkmennebit" State Concern operating in this field are introducing modern technologies, systems, and world-class equipment, contributing to the steady growth of “black gold” output. The Goturdepe oil workers, striving to honor the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality, are working with even greater dedication. Each of them expresses gratitude to the President for the opportunity to serve the national economy and contribute to strengthening the independence of the Homeland.
