Turkmenistan puts new 200 manat banknotes into circulation

On December 1, the Central Bank of Turkmenistan introduced a new polymer 200 manat banknote, along with modified 1, 5, and 10 manat banknotes. This innovation marks the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality.

The design of the 1, 5, and 10 manat banknotes remains largely unchanged, but has been supplemented with the emblem of the International Year of Peace and Trust. The new 200 manat banknote features an image of the Arkadag Monument on the front and the Arkadag City Hall on the back. All new banknotes bear the year of issue and a facsimile signature of the Chairman of the Board of the Central Bank of Turkmenistan.

The updated and new banknotes are mandatory for all types of payments throughout the country, regardless of the organization's ownership. At the same time, all previously issued Central Bank banknotes of 2009, 2012, 2014, 2017, and 2020 designations remain valid as legal tender.
