Co-operation between Turkmenistan and UNODC becomes more sustainable

On 13 September 2024, Deputy Foreign Minister Ahmed Gurbanov met with the new Regional Representative of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in Central Asia, Afghanistan, Iran and Pakistan, Oliver Stolpe, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The parties noted with satisfaction Turkmenistan's effective cooperation with UNODC for many years. They discussed the results of joint work within the framework of implementation of cycles of the UNODC Programme for Central Asia for 2022-2025, as well as work through the Central Asian Regional Information and Coordination Centre and projects of the European Union.

During the meeting the current activities and further partnership on countering modern threats of global nature, in particular organised crime, drug trafficking, corruption and terrorism were considered.

The sides exchanged views on the organisation of joint activities in the current year.
