Western Turkmenistan, that is, the Balkan Velayat, is mainly rich in oil, because the Turkmenbashi complex of oil refineries with an eighty-year history of activity operates in these parts.
The complex of plants made a special breakthrough in the years of independence of Turkmenistan, when its complete modernization was carried out. According to Meilis Rejepov, head of the oil refining department of the State Concern Turkmennebit, about 27 local installations were built and started operating, which now produce diesel fuel, gasoline of various brands, bitumen, fuel oil, coke, polypropylene, as well as base oil (the basis for producing diesel, turbine, industrial oils). This year, TKNPZ received four ISO certificates – for quality, environmental safety, management system, as well as for domestic polypropylene Z-30 specifically for the future medical complex of Arkadag, which is included in the second stage of the development of the city of national importance. According to the plan, it will include more than ten buildings and structures, where syringes, iodized salt, and baby food will also be produced. All enterprises are being built in accordance with the status of a "smart" technological city with high environmental standards.
Trial samples of such medical products made of non-woven textiles obtained on the basis of domestic polypropylene - bathrobes and overalls, single-, three-layer and respirator masks, shoe covers, caps, which in the near future will be mass produced in the country as part of import substitution promoted by the head of state, have already been exhibited at the last annual oil and gas exhibition. Dilfuza Shirieva, representative of the State Committee for the Construction of Arkadag under the President of Turkmenistan, explained that the Arkadag Medical Cluster medical industrial complex will be ready in 2026, and now polypropylene from TKNPZ is being tested on various technical production lines abroad – in Germany, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, the Republic of Korea in order to purchase exactly the equipment, which is most suitable for production according to the parameters of our raw materials.
The main operator of oil production in our country is the State Concern Turkmennebit, which coordinates the work of domestic organizations, as well as foreign companies that operate in Turkmenistan on the basis of a production sharing agreement (these are Dragon Oil, Petronas, Mitro, ENI), other foreign material and technological and research consortia with which the structural divisions of the State Concern cooperate. Serdar Periev, Head of the Department of International Cooperation and Investment Projects at Turkmennebit Group, said that in total, the state concern has 30 oil and gas fields in the country, as well as a well fund of more than 2,300 hydrocarbon "wells" for various purposes. In addition to operational work, geological and geophysical surveys, repair and restoration, and inspection activities are carried out here.
For the fuel and energy complex, the greening of production and the reclamation of landscapes involved in the work remain urgent issues of the development of extraction, processing, transportation and storage. Among the latest innovations that are being tested and will be offered for use in oil storage in the so–called barns is the Russian advanced technology proposed for the Turkmen market for cleaning soil contaminated with petroleum products.
The ARS-20 reagent is an eco-product that does not cause harmful effects to nature. On October 22, this year, the technology received two documents confirming the effectiveness of the method – from the State Corporation Turkmengeologia and the foreign company Intertek, which is in partnership with TKNPP in the field of scientific and industrial research. During testing, you can clearly see how a sample of dark brown soil is divided into three fractions in one container: sand, emulsion and oil on top. The result is actually purified ordinary Aeolian material.
