The Organizing Committee of the 30th anniversary International Conference and Exhibition "Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan – 2025" (OGT 2025), one of the country’s major global energy events, proudly announces Malaysia’s leading energy company, PETRONAS, as the “Brilliant” sponsor of this significant event. This strategic partnership highlights PETRONAS' confidence in Turkmenistan’s role as a key energy hub and reflects the company’s strong commitment to global energy security, sustainable development, and innovation.
Founded in 1974, PETRONAS is authorized to manage Malaysia’s oil and gas resources and has since grown into a large international corporation operating in over 100 countries worldwide. Its integrated portfolio includes exploration and production of hydrocarbons, oil refining, petrochemicals, marketing and trading, as well as the development and implementation of innovative energy solutions.
As part of its strategy to achieve Net Zero Carbon Emissions by 2050 (NZCE 2050), PETRONAS is actively advancing key projects in carbon capture and storage (CCS), hydrogen energy, renewable energy sources, and other low-carbon technologies.
PETRONAS began its cooperation with Turkmenistan in 1996, when it became one of the first international investors in the country’s oil and gas sector. Since then, the company has successfully operated offshore, becoming the first operator to invest in Turkmenistan’s hydrocarbon-rich Caspian fields. This partnership underscores not only strong economic ties but also mutual political trust between the two countries. In May 2025, PETRONAS reaffirmed its long-term commitment by signing a new 25-year Production Sharing Agreement (PSA) for Block I, extending its operations in Turkmenistan until 2050.
As the “Brilliant” sponsor of OGT 2025, PETRONAS not only offers financial and organizational support but also brings its strategic vision, global leadership, and expertise in advancing the global energy transition toward a low-carbon and sustainable future.
The main theme of the forum — "Energy. Innovation. Development." — aligns fully with PETRONAS’ priorities in implementing cutting-edge technological solutions, ensuring sustainable and efficient growth in the energy sector, and promoting responsible management of energy resources.
The partnership between PETRONAS and OGT 2025 contributes to strengthening bilateral cooperation, supporting the development of a reliable and sustainable energy system in Turkmenistan, and expanding connections with the global energy community. It also reflects the shared commitment to innovation, sustainable progress, and international collaboration as key pillars for the future of the energy sector.
To date, more than 1,400 delegates from over 70 countries have already registered to attend the conference, and over 100 companies are preparing to showcase their technologies and innovative solutions at OGT EXPO — Turkmenistan’s largest and most significant energy exhibition.
