On November 17, talks were held in Tashkent between Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. Warmly welcoming the distinguished guest to Uzbekistan, the head of the neighboring country thanked the Turkmen leader for accepting the invitation to pay a state visit to Uzbekistan.

Mirziyoyev praised the joint activities carried out in such areas as trade, transport, energy, water management, and other key areas. Particular emphasis was placed on the enormous contribution of the National Leader of the Turkmen People, the Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan.

Mirziyoyev noted that mutual trade has doubled in recent years, acknowledging the existence of every opportunity to increase this figure by expanding the range of goods and effectively leveraging the free trade regime.

To expand industrial cooperation, emphasis was placed on the importance of actively engaging businesses in launching new projects for the production of construction materials, pharmaceuticals, food products, and other in-demand goods.

It was emphasized that effective and mutually beneficial cooperation has been established in the energy sector. It was also noted that transportation is a connecting link between the two countries' economies. In this context, discussions focused on consistently increasing freight volumes and simplifying customs and logistics procedures.

The importance of strengthening partnerships in the cultural and humanitarian spheres was also emphasized.

Regarding trade and economic cooperation, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that partnership in this area is steadily developing and currently encompasses such areas as trade, transport and communications, fuel and energy, industry, agriculture, and environmental protection. A dynamic growth in mutual trade turnover was also noted.
