Hero-Arkadag of Turkmenistan Concludes Visit to Azerbaijan

The National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, as part of the cultural program of his official visit to Azerbaijan, visited the cities of Fuzuli and Shusha, where he familiarized himself with the restoration and development projects of these historic settlements.

At the Fuzuli International Airport, the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan was welcomed by the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev. During the visit, the National Leader of the Turkmen people was presented with projects for the international airports of Fuzuli, Lachin, and Zangilan.

During the trip to Shusha, the Special Representative of the President of Azerbaijan for the Aghdam, Fuzuli, and Khojavend districts introduced the Hero-Arkadag of Turkmenistan to the construction projects underway in Fuzuli. Honored Architect of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov gave valuable recommendations on urban development, the importance of which was emphasized by President Ilham Aliyev.

In the cultural capital of Azerbaijan, the city of Shusha, located 1,368 meters above sea level, the distinguished guests visited a new residential complex under construction and a mosque whose foundation was laid in 2021. The mosque project is being carried out by an Italian company and Azerbaijani architects.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Ilham Aliyev also visited a photo exhibition dedicated to Heydar Aliyev at the Creativity Center, which is included in the list of national architectural monuments. The tour also included a visit to the Shusha Fortress, built in 1752, which is recognized as a monument of national architectural significance.

At the house-museum of the renowned Azerbaijani opera singer Bulbul, the guests were guided through the exhibits by the artist’s son, People's Artist of Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan Polad Bulbul oglu, who was awarded the honorary title “People’s Artist of Turkmenistan” for his contribution to strengthening friendly relations between the two nations.

The cultural program also included visits to the Govhar Agha Mosque, the Mehmandarov House-Museum, and the Jydyr Plain. At the Jydyr Plain, there were performances by equestrian stunt riders, and in a sign of deep respect, a Karabakh horse named “Dostluk” (Friendship) was presented to the National Leader of the Turkmen people. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov accepted the horse as a symbol of the enduring Turkmen-Azerbaijani friendship.

Upon completion of the cultural program, the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan departed for home from the Fuzuli International Airport, where he was welcomed by government officials at Ashgabat Airport.
