The sacred holiday of Gurban bayramy (Eid al-Adha) - one of the main holidays of the entire Islamic world, personifying spiritual unity, solidarity and noble goals was widely celebrated in Turkmenistan
According to the relevant Decree recently signed by the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the holiday of Gurban bayramy (Eid al-Adha) is celebrated in the country for three days - 6th, 7th and 8th of June. In accordance with the document, the holiday, which fell on Sunday, 8th of June, was moved to 9th of June.
For three days, bright celebrations was held in the administrative centres, etraps and villages of the regions, in parks, cultural centres and theatres of the cities of Ashgabat and Arkadag, designed to increase the sense of pride in the glorious past of the Turkmen people and its present.
As the President of Turkmenistan noted, Gurban bayramy (Eid al-Adha), widely celebrated in the first days of summer of the International Year of Peace and Trust, has absorbed the high, time-honoured moral values, traditions and rituals of the peoples of the East, including the Turkmen, proclaiming humanism and goodwill.
