On February 18, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a meeting with the President of the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation, Rustam Minnikhanov, who arrived in our country on a working visit.
Expressing deep gratitude for the warm reception and the opportunity to discuss relevant issues of traditional cooperation in a personal conversation, the guest conveyed warm greetings from the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, addressing sincere wishes of happiness, well-being, and prosperity to the highest leadership and the people of Turkmenistan.
Warmly welcoming the distinguished guest to Turkmen soil and thanking him for his kind words, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov extended his best wishes to the President of the Russian Federation and the fraternal people of the friendly country.
During the conversation, the sides exchanged views on the current state and priorities for further development of bilateral partnership, taking into account mutual interests.
As emphasized by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, Turkmenistan attaches great importance to the development of relations with the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation. Regular meetings and contacts at the highest level are one of the key factors for systemic and effective bilateral cooperation.
The Head of State thanked the President of the Republic of Tatarstan for actively participating in the International Forum dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the birth of the great Turkmen poet and philosopher, Magtymguly Fragi, held in October of last year.
The interlocutors noted with satisfaction that for centuries our peoples have maintained friendly relations based on shared culture, common religion, linguistic similarities, traditions, as well as mutual respect and equality.
Rustam Minnikhanov particularly emphasized the Turkmen people’s commitment to preserving national traditions and unique culture, once again thanking for the opportunity to visit our country once again.
An equally important aspect of Turkmen-Tatarstan relations, by mutual opinion, is cooperation in the humanitarian sphere, including in the fields of education, culture, and the arts.
Taking the opportunity, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov reaffirmed Turkmenistan's intention to continue active efforts aimed at strengthening multifaceted cooperation with fraternal Tatarstan within the framework of strategic partnership with the Russian Federation.
The Head of State also reminded that, at Turkmenistan’s initiative, 2025 has been declared the "International Year of Peace and Trust," as confirmed by the relevant United Nations General Assembly Resolution. In this regard, on December 12 of this year, a representative Forum will be held in the capital of Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, to mark the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality. Inviting the President of the Republic of Tatarstan to participate, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed deep confidence that this will make a significant contribution to the successful organization of this major international event.
At the end of the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the President of the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation, Rustam Minnikhanov, exchanged mutual wishes for good health and further success in their activities, and for the fraternal peoples of Turkmenistan and Tatarstan – peace, well-being, and prosperity.
