On January 9, the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of Halk Maslahaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, held a meeting of the State Organizational Committee. The meeting, attended by the Chairperson of the Mejlis and members of the Cabinet of Ministers, was convened to prepare high-level events marking the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's neutrality and the declaration of 2025 as the "International Year of Peace and Trust" by the UN General Assembly. The committee was established by decree of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and is led by Halk Maslahaty.
Opening the meeting, Hero-Arkadag congratulated the attendees on the New Year, wishing them success in their work for the prosperity of the homeland. He expressed hope that the year would be marked by progress, achievements, and well-being in the country.
The National Leader emphasized the importance of discussing upcoming tasks in light of the declaration of 2025 as the "International Year of Peace and Trust" and the celebration of the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's neutrality. Hero-Arkadag noted that Turkmenistan, as a responsible member of the international community, pursues a peaceful and positive foreign policy. He highlighted the significance of the UN General Assembly's adoption of the resolution declaring 2025 the "International Year of Peace and Trust," initiated by Turkmenistan, as a key event for strengthening peace, security, and sustainable development globally.
During a recent extended session of the Cabinet of Ministers and the State Security Council, 2025 was officially declared the "International Year of Peace and Trust." Chairman Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov underscored that a range of international events, both domestic and abroad, would celebrate the 30th anniversary of neutrality and the International Year of Peace and Trust.
Hero-Arkadag stressed that Halk Maslahaty, entrusted with leading the State Organizational Committee, would ensure the successful organization of festive and international events, contributing to constructive efforts for a peaceful, prosperous, and happy life in Turkmenistan. He focused on the organizational aspects of the upcoming celebrations.
Addressing Chairperson of the Mejlis D. Gulmanova, the National Leader emphasized the importance of legislative work, public outreach, and educational activities. He also tasked her with collaborating on the design of a commemorative medal and badge for the 30th anniversary of neutrality and the International Year of Peace and Trust with Vice-Premier H. Geldimyradov and the Central Bank Chairperson.
Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers H. Geldimyradov was instructed to provide financial support for the events, while Vice-Premier B. Amanov was tasked with resolving organizational issues. Hero-Arkadag also called for proposals on traditional foods and goods to adorn festive tables during the jubilee year.
Hero-Arkadag emphasized ensuring the availability of high-quality food products in a wide range, including baked goods, vegetables, fruits, and beverages, as well as paying special attention to the design of food packaging featuring the year's slogan and emblem. Furthermore, he instructed that efforts be made to beautify the country, particularly Ashgabat, transforming it into a blossoming oasis.
Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers B. Annammamedov was tasked with ensuring cultural events and city beautification during the festivities. Regarding souvenirs, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers N. Atagulyev was instructed to establish trading outlets for national souvenirs and commemorative gifts.
Deputy Chairperson of the Cabinet of Ministers M. Mamedova was directed to engage cultural institutions in mass cultural events during the jubilee year. National forums should address issues in the cultural sphere, with significant international events receiving proper media coverage.
Deputy Chairperson of the Cabinet of Ministers B. Orazdurdiyeva was instructed to prepare proposals for organizing international scientific-practical conferences and seminars at higher education institutions, dedicated to neutrality's anniversary and the year's slogan.
Minister of Foreign Affairs R. Meredov, serving as Deputy Chair of the State Organizational Committee, was instructed to coordinate efforts to hold international events at a high level. Coordination with UN structural units was emphasized to ensure effective collaboration in implementing these initiatives.
Summing up the meeting, Hero-Arkadag expressed confidence in the ability to implement the outlined plans successfully, urging all members to take responsibility for elevating the international reputation of neutral Turkmenistan.
The meeting concluded with well-wishes for health, family well-being, and success for all participants in their endeavors for the homeland's prosperity.
