CNPC confirms intent to deepen energy cooperation with Turkmenistan

At the XXX International Conference and Exhibition “Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan – 2025”, Chen Huailong, President of CNPC (China National Petroleum Corporation) for Central Asia and Russia, delivered a keynote address.

Looking back on 19 years of energy cooperation, the CNPC representative noted that China and Turkmenistan have achieved fruitful results, particularly in the gas sector. Since the signing of key agreements in 2007, cooperation has expanded across multiple areas — from field development (Bagtyyarlyk) and trade to engineering.

The total volume of natural gas trade between the two countries has reached 450 billion cubic meters, providing strong momentum for the economic and social development of both nations. Chen Huailong emphasized the recent consensus reached between President Xi Jinping of China and President Serdar Berdimuhamedov of Turkmenistan as a testament to the strategic foresight of the bilateral partnership.

Looking ahead, CNPC reaffirmed its commitment to developing a comprehensive strategic partnership and its intent to deepen energy cooperation with the State Concern "Turkmengaz" across the entire gas value chain. The company will continue to strengthen and expand collaboration, ensuring stable production, enhanced gas recovery, and the safe operation of pipelines.
