The Department of Oil and Gas Technology and Chemical Production, created on the basis of specialized departments of the International University of Oil and Gas named after Yagshigeldi Kakayev and the Institute of "Nebitgazylmytaslama" of the State Concern "Turkmennebit", is effectively functioning.

In the training of future young specialists, the participation of students, young teachers and postgraduates of specialized educational institutions in large-scale research work carried out at the Institute of "Nebitgazylmytaslama", aimed at providing education at a modern advanced level, on the scientific basis of science, engineering and technology, is of great importance.

In the five years that have passed since the establishment of the production department, a significant system of practical and theoretical improvement has been created, aimed at preparing students for production processes from a scientific point of view, by providing students with scientifically based education and integrating the development of production skills.

The main goal of this department, operating on the basis of the "Nebitgazylmytaslama" Institute, is to actively attract talented young specialists and students from research and educational institutions of the oil and gas industry of the region. Organization of off-site classes at school, as part of instilling interest in experimental-analytical and research work carried out in the laboratories of the institute, stimulates students' interest in scientific research.

During the "International Year of Peace and Trust", the Central Council of the Youth Organization of Turkmenistan named after Makhtumkuli, together with the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, held a competition aimed at identifying a new generation of scientists among talented youth and stimulating research in various fields of science. The fact that several specialists and students from scientific and educational institutions of the region won, including a specialist of the Nebitgazylmytaslama Institute, a teacher and student of the Balkanabat branch of the university, as well as a student of the Balkanabat oil secondary vocational school, proves the great efforts being made in this direction.

"During the first half of the current year, students of the Faculty of Oil Industry of the Balkanabat branch of the university, studying in various specialties, including oil and gas geology, design, construction and operation of oil and gas pipelines and gas storage facilities, drilling of oil and gas wells, development and operation of oil and gas fields, chemical technology of oil and gas processing, visited the laboratories of the "Nebitgazylmytaslama" Institute for on-site practical classes. Students studying in various fields also undergo industrial practice in the relevant laboratories of the institute during the academic year and thoroughly familiarize themselves with the essence of laboratory and analytical tests and design work carried out in the course of research activities," says Mayagozel Annataganova, head of the Department of Oil and Chemical Production Technology of the Balkanabat branch of the International University of Oil and Gas named after Yagshigeldi Kakayev.
