The capital's Specialized Chess and Checkers School, where the intellectual competition took place, and the opportunities created here made an unforgettable impression on the guests.

In the afternoon, the participants of the International Chess Tournament headed to the city of Arkadag. Upon arrival in the new "smart" city, they took pictures in front of the building of the Children's Health and Rehabilitation Center named after Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, where the headquarters of the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Care is located.

Then, a ceremony was held in the festivities center of the Markaw Hotel, which was attended by the mayor of Arkadag, the manager of the affairs of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan, the vice-president of the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Care, heads of public organizations and political parties, heads and representatives of diplomatic missions and representative offices accredited in our country, participants of the international tournament, as well as schoolchildren of Arkadag, and the media.

During the celebration, Hero Arkadag and Arkadagly Hero Serdar were congratulated on the successful holding of the International Chess Tournament in Ashgabat. The speeches emphasized the special importance of organizing these competitions in the International Year of Peace and Trust. Those gathered expressed their gratitude to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the National Leader of the Turkmen People Hero Arkadag for their contribution to the development of chess and the conditions created that made it possible to hold the prestigious International Tournament at a high level.

In the era of the Revival of a new era of a powerful state, a comprehensive strategy initiated by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Hero Arkadag and currently being implemented under the leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov is aimed at stimulating and providing all-round support to the mass physical culture, health and sports movement, and high-performance sports. This direction is defined as one of the priorities in the state policy of the Fatherland.

Recognition of Turkmenistan's efforts in developing sports and strengthening the principles of a healthy lifestyle in society is the adoption of a number of relevant Resolutions by the General Assembly of the United Nations at the suggestion of our country. This demonstrates the broad support of the world community for the reforms carried out in the Fatherland in the sports sphere. A striking confirmation of this is also the announcement of Ashgabat as the "City of New Sports Opportunities of the Commonwealth" at a meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the CIS, and the Tennis Complex in the structure of the capital's Olympic City as the "Educational and Training Center of the Asian Region" by the Asian Tennis Federation.

All this contributes to increasing the authority of neutral Turkmenistan on the world stage, promoting comprehensive initiatives aimed at developing effective cooperation with foreign partners, as well as supporting the general humanitarian tasks and peacekeeping efforts of the Olympic movement.

The construction of the Olympic Village in Ashgabat, which has no analogues in the Central Asian region, contributed to bringing Turkmen sports to a qualitatively new level. As is known, in 2017, the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games were held in its arenas with triumph, which marked a new chapter in the history of national sports. As a result, Turkmenistan joined the ranks of countries that have all the conditions for organizing high-level competitions. This also demonstrated the success of sports diplomacy, which our country is implementing in the interests of global peace and prosperity.

The increase in the sporting authority of the Fatherland was also facilitated by the holding of the International Rally "Amul-Khazar 2018" and the World Weightlifting Championships, which added new bright pages to the history of national and world sports. Among other major competitions held in Ashgabat, one can note the Central Asian Team Tennis Championship among juniors under 12 years old, the 14th World Kurash Wrestling Championship, the International Hockey Tournament with the participation of teams from the CIS countries and other countries, as well as the International Competitions in National Wrestling Goresh and Belt Wrestling Alysh with the participation of athletes from 13 countries of Asia and Europe.

The speeches emphasized that the active development of sports in our country, which is an ambassador of peace, is the result of the broad opportunities created by the National Leader of the Turkmen people and the President of Turkmenistan for the harmonious education of the younger generation, the realization of its creative potential. After all, sports bring peoples closer together and unite them, and serve to strengthen mutual understanding and trust in the international arena.

It was also emphasized that, thanks to the consistent efforts of Hero Arkadag and Arkadagly Hero Serdar, independent neutral Turkmenistan has provided the necessary conditions for a prosperous life, modern education, sports and health promotion for young citizens.

In this context, it was noted that our country is committed to the fundamental principles of the United Nations regarding the rights and interests of children, and comprehensive care for the younger generation – the future of the Motherland – is constantly at the center of attention of the state and society.

Based on these goals, in our independent Fatherland, rightfully recognized as a country of happy childhood, where dreams come true, under the leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, comprehensive programs are being successfully implemented to provide young Turkmen citizens with all the opportunities for fruitful study, the realization of creative and sports talents, and a full rest, so that they grow up educated, erudite, purposeful, physically strong and spiritually rich. At the same time, special attention is paid to the patriotic education of youth.

The current celebration is evidence of the boundless care of the Hero Arkadag and Arkadagly Hero Serdar for the young generation not only of our country, but of the whole world.

Along with this, it was noted that the International Chess Tournament, organized during the International Year of Peace and Trust and held over three days at the Ashgabat Specialized Chess and Checkers School, clearly demonstrated Turkmenistan’s commitment to the ideals of friendship and brotherhood, peacefulness and prosperity, harmony and solidarity.

As was emphasized, these intellectual sports competitions became a confirmation that the implementation of sports diplomacy principles brings positive results. The speakers once again congratulated everyone on the successful completion of the competitions.

Then a ceremonial presentation of gifts to the participants of the International Chess Tournament among athletes in the age categories of 8, 10 and 12 years old took place.

Talented young chess players from 11 countries of Europe and Asia, including Turkmenistan, Vietnam, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Russia, Tajikistan, Thailand and Uzbekistan, with a feeling of sincere gratitude accepted laptops – gifts from the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Care, handed over to them on behalf of the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Hero Arkadag. Gifts were also presented to the parents, coaches and doctors who accompanied the children to Ashgabat, that is, to all members of the teams participating in the tournament.

At the end of the ceremony, a concert was held to mark this significant event, featuring children's creative groups from our country.

In their performances, the young artists glorified the happy life of the independent neutral Fatherland, Hero Arkadag and Arkadagly Hero Serdar. Famous foreign children's songs were also performed. All this became a creative embodiment of the triumph of the principles of peace and friendship, to which the Turkmen people are invariably committed.

A real “musical bouquet” for the audience was a medley of popular songs by foreign authors.

The performance of the Turkmen national dance kushtdepdi caused great enthusiasm among the participants of the celebration.

The concert ended with the song “Türkmenistan – Bitaraplygyň mekany”, which glorifies the principles of neutrality of our sovereign Motherland and is dedicated to the motto of this year – “International Year of Peace and Trust”.

Noting with enthusiasm that the musical festival gave them unforgettable impressions, the foreign participants of the tournament expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Hero Arkadag and Arkadagly Hero Serdar for the hospitality shown on Turkmen soil and the high level of organization and holding of all events.
