President of Turkmenistan Received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Pakistan

On June 30, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Turkmenistan, Ms. Faryal Leghari, who presented her credentials to the head of state.

Expressing gratitude for the time allocated for the meeting, the ambassador emphasized that Pakistan highly values Turkmenistan’s peaceful foreign policy. Taking the opportunity, she conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari, and Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif to the President of Turkmenistan and to the Hero-Arkadag.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov congratulated the official representative of the friendly nation on her appointment to the high diplomatic post and wished her great success in her work aimed at further strengthening multifaceted interstate relations.

Conveying best wishes to the leadership of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the President of Turkmenistan noted that the two countries and peoples are united not only by friendly and brotherly relations but also by shared spiritual, cultural, and historical values.

As highlighted during the meeting, Pakistan is one of Turkmenistan’s key partners in the South Asian region. Currently, cooperation between the two countries is successfully developing in the political and diplomatic, trade and economic, energy, transport, educational, and cultural-humanitarian spheres.

Turkmenistan–Pakistan relations are marked by a high level of trust and mutual understanding. This serves as a solid foundation for the consistent development of the partnership both bilaterally and within the framework of reputable international organizations, including the United Nations, the Economic Cooperation Organization, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. Trade, economic, and energy cooperation occupies a special place on the agenda of Turkmenistan–Pakistan relations.

At present, the two countries are implementing major regional energy and communication projects, in particular the construction of the Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India (TAPI) transnational gas pipeline, as well as a fiber-optic communication line and an electricity transmission line along the Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan route.

In this regard, the head of state emphasized that these projects will contribute to the socio-economic development of the entire region in the future, expressing confidence that Ms. Faryal Leghari, as the newly appointed ambassador, will contribute to the implementation of these major projects by coordinating the efforts of the two countries.

During the meeting, special importance was attached to strengthening cultural and humanitarian ties between the two countries, including the development of cooperation in education, science, and healthcare.

At the end of the meeting, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Turkmenistan, Faryal Leghari, once again expressed her gratitude for the warm welcome and assured that she would make every effort to further strengthen the traditionally friendly relations between the two countries.
