On November 18, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Qatar to Turkmenistan, Nasser bin Ahmed Al Taheri. He presented his credentials to the head of state.
Currently, the traditionally friendly and fraternal relations between Turkmenistan and the State of Qatar are characterized by a high level of mutual understanding and close cooperation. Our country is committed to further strengthening these long-term relations and taking them to a new level. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, bilateral cooperation has consistently developed in various areas. Reciprocal high-level visits contribute to its further development.
During the meeting, the existence of all opportunities for the further development of trade and economic relations between Turkmenistan and Qatar was noted. The fuel and energy sector, trade, investment, transport and communications, the chemical industry, textile and agricultural sectors, healthcare, and high technology were identified as promising areas of cooperation. In this regard, attention was drawn to the need to more effectively utilize the potential of the joint Turkmen-Qatari intergovernmental commission to develop cooperation. The head of state also noted that there are significant opportunities in the cultural and humanitarian spheres, including in studying the rich historical and cultural heritage of the Turkmen and Qatari peoples.
