During his visit to Afghanistan, the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met with Abdul Ghani Baradar, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Afghanistan for Economic Affairs, on October 20.
Warmly welcoming the distinguished Turkmen guest, Abdul Ghani Baradar emphasized that Afghanistan highly values its friendly ties with Turkmenistan, which pursues a foreign policy based on the principles of positive neutrality.
Today, Turkmenistan and Afghanistan are participating in the joint implementation of major projects in energy, transport, and communications. These include the construction of the Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India gas pipeline, power transmission lines, and fiber-optic communication lines along the Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan route.
In this context, expressing confidence that these projects will serve as a reliable foundation for strengthening long-term fraternal relations between Turkmenistan and Afghanistan, the National Leader of the Turkmen People announced that a ceremony will be held today to mark the construction of the Serhetabat-Herat gas pipeline, known as "Arkadagyň ak ýoly."
Emphasizing that such large-scale projects, by uniting the countries, will serve as a bridge of friendship and brotherhood between peoples. Hero Arkadag expressed confidence that they will create significant preconditions for the further development of the two countries' economies and will contribute to improving the well-being of the fraternal Afghan people by providing them with new jobs.
Noting that having such a peace-loving neighbor as Turkmenistan is strategically important for Afghanistan, the Deputy Prime Minister of the fraternal country expressed his sincere gratitude to Hero Arkadag and President Serdar Berdimuhamedov for their continued support of the Afghan people.
