On October 8, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Mammetkhan Chakyyev, presented the draft "Concept for the Development of the Digital Economy in Turkmenistan for 2026–2028" for consideration by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov during a government meeting.
The main objectives of the Concept include the development of digital infrastructure, the creation of favorable conditions for the effective functioning of state bodies and all sectors of the economy, and the enhancement of the country’s competitiveness through the adoption of advanced production technologies and improvements in legislation.
Taking into account international standards and national interests, the Concept provides for the modernization of the legal framework, the development of the "e-Government" system, digital education and science, digital healthcare, financial technologies, the improvement of data transmission networks, the strengthening of international cooperation, and the attraction of investments.
The head of state noted that effective efforts are being made in the country to implement digital systems in the national economy, with special attention given to the development of e-Government. By signing the document—prepared as part of the continued development of a high-tech digital economy—the president gave relevant instructions to the deputy prime minister.
