Turkmenistan and France discussed directions for developing cooperation

On November 18, the IRIS Institute and the Embassy of Turkmenistan in France held an international conference in Paris titled “Turkmen-French Relations: Threats and Opportunities in the Modern World.” The forum discussed potential collaboration in energy, ecology, water resources, digital technologies, space technologies, education, and culture.

The conference was dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent Neutrality and the international promotion of Magtymguly Fragi’s literary heritage. It brought together representatives from government, scientific-diplomatic, and cultural circles.

Turkmenistan’s Ambassador Maksat Charyyev emphasized the importance of the country’s neutrality policy and noted that the official visit of the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow, to Paris in May 2025 has expanded cooperation in new directions.

French diplomats and IRIS representatives highly appreciated Turkmenistan’s contribution to regional stability, its role in the energy sector, and its ecological initiatives, particularly efforts to reduce methane emissions.

Within the framework of the conference, an exhibition showcasing the works of Magtymguly Fragi and Turkmen state leaders was organized. The event concluded with a tasting of traditional Turkmen cuisine.
