
A high-level forum, "The CAREC Region and the Multilateral Trading System: Deepening Integration in Central Asia and Beyond," was held at the World Trade Organization (WTO) headquarters in Geneva on October 22–23. It was organized jointly by the WTO and the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
A delegation from Turkmenistan, led by Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy Babaniyaz Yalakov, participated in the event.
In his speech, Yalakov emphasized the importance of Turkmenistan's gradual integration into the multilateral trading system, noting the priority of harmonizing national legislation with WTO norms and strengthening regional cooperation to expand trade and economic ties.
As part of the forum, the Turkmen delegation met with the leadership of the World Trade Organization to discuss Turkmenistan's current steps toward WTO accession, exchange of experience with member states, and opportunities for technical and advisory support from international partners.
