Turkmenistan and Japan Strengthen Mutual Cooperation

On December 16, 2024, a meeting was held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and Chairman of the Turkmen-Japanese Committee for Economic Cooperation, Rashid Meredov, and a delegation led by Hiroyuki Tsubai, Member of the Board of Directors, Executive Vice President of Itochu Corporation, President of the Machinery and Equipment Division, and Chairman of the Japanese-Turkmen Committee for Economic Cooperation.

During the meeting, a wide range of issues related to bilateral cooperation in political-diplomatic, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian areas, as well as the international agenda, were discussed.

According to both parties, regular high-level contacts serve as a driving force for the development of bilateral interaction.

Special emphasis was placed on effective collaboration in the trade and economic, oil and gas, transport and communications, construction, industrial, and electric power sectors, as well as in the field of green energy.

The co-chairpersons of the committees reviewed in detail the progress of ongoing joint projects.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties emphasized the effectiveness of trade and economic relations between Turkmenistan and Japan, based on principles of trust and mutual interest.
