On November 21, 2024, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan hosted a meeting between Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Serdar Mukhammetdurdiyev and members of the delegation headed by Yue Xiaoyun, Special Envoy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China for Afghanistan Affairs.
During the meeting, the parties discussed priority areas of strategic interstate cooperation, built on a long-term, mutually beneficial basis, and exchanged views on the implementation of previously reached agreements.
It was noted that the personal contacts of the leaders of the two countries, which give a powerful impetus to the further development and expansion of Turkmen-Chinese relations, play a key role in activating the interstate dialogue.
It was emphasized that Turkmenistan considers multilateral international platforms for maintaining stability in Afghanistan as an important factor in stimulating sustainable recovery and growth of the socio-economic situation of the neighboring country. In this regard, the parties exchanged views on the preparations for the 5th meeting of foreign ministers of neighboring Afghanistan, which will be held in Turkmenistan.
The interlocutors confirmed that Turkmenistan and China will continue to provide all possible support for the economic reconstruction of Afghanistan, adhering to the principles of friendship and good neighborliness.
