On November 22, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a regular meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on the digital system, at which a number of public policy issues were considered.
Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs R. Meredov reported on the ongoing preparations for a conference on December 11 this year dedicated to strengthening joint efforts to maintain international peace and sustainable development.
As noted, one of the main directions of Turkmenistan's foreign policy is cooperation with international organizations, primarily the United Nations. The international initiatives put forward by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov within the framework of this authoritative organization to ensure peace and sustainable development are widely supported by the international community and are reflected in resolutions and other UN documents.
Thus, relevant work is currently underway to hold an international conference and a meeting of the Friends of Neutrality Group in Ashgabat. In this regard, information was provided about the plan of the upcoming forum.
At the same time, it was reported that at the meeting of the Friends of Neutrality Group, the possibilities of developing a Global Security Strategy initiated by the President of Turkmenistan, practical steps to expand cooperation in the field of peace, issues related to the implementation of the principles of neutrality in national and international strategies for achieving sustainable development will be discussed.
After hearing the report, Head of State Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that permanently neutral Turkmenistan, implementing a foreign policy based on the principles of friendship and peacefulness, carries out close cooperation with the states of the world and the region, reputable international organizations. In this regard, in order to further strengthen the peaceful foreign policy strategy of the Motherland, the President of Turkmenistan ordered to ensure a high organizational level of the upcoming forum.Continuation of the meeting, Deputy Head of Government, Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported on the results of the official visit of the delegation of Turkmenistan to the United Arab Emirates.
As it was emphasized, at the present stage, the interstate political and diplomatic dialogue with the UAE is characterized by increasing dynamics. This is confirmed by the official and working visits of the President of Turkmenistan in recent years in November 2022 and December 2023. At the same time, it was noted that the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Hero-Arkadag made an official visit to the friendly country in February 2023, and in January this year – a working visit.
At the same time, it was emphasized that the priority vectors of bilateral cooperation are the trade and economic sphere, the fuel and energy sector, renewable energy sources, and the transport and logistics complex. In addition, great attention is paid to the development of cooperation in such areas as culture, science, education, and sports.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, a number of meetings were held during the official trip to the UAE on behalf of the President of Turkmenistan. In particular, with the Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates, Minister for the Office of the President of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, etc.
Summarizing the report, Head of State Serdar Berdimuhamedov stressed that the development of bilateral cooperation with the United Arab Emirates is among the priorities of Turkmenistan's foreign policy. Our state strives to strengthen relations with a friendly and fraternal country in all spheres, the President of the country noted, ordering to consistently increase partnership with the UAE and pay special attention to strengthening productive ties.
