On July 26, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Hero-Arkadag Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, made a working visit to the city of Arkadag, which stands as a vivid example of the successful implementation of the country’s urban development program in line with modern requirements and high international standards. The Hero-Arkadag reviewed various construction projects in the new city related to the modernization of the road and transport infrastructure and held a working meeting with relevant officials.
Early in the morning, Hero-Arkadag arrived at the modern road interchange built along the Göktepe Avenue.
After inspecting the decorative elements on the lower tier of the interchange, the National Leader of the Turkmen people emphasized the interconnection between the past and the future as reflected in the images displayed. He noted that the Turkmen nation has a glorious past and, under the wise leadership of the country’s President, is confidently moving toward a bright future.
Hero-Arkadag highlighted that the noble traditions of the ancestors — building structures, laying roads, and constructing bridges — continue today in harmony with the spirit of the present era, stressing that this work must be carried out at a high level of quality.
He then viewed the images placed on the arches of the structure. Given that this region is the homeland of the Akhal-Teke horses, the decision to depict “heavenly” horses in the decorative elements holds particular importance, noted Hero-Arkadag, offering related recommendations.
Various roofing materials and concrete pillars for roadside installation were also showcased. It was noted that domestic materials now fully replace imported ones.
Chairman of the State Committee for Construction of the City of Arkadag under the President of Turkmenistan, Deryageldi Orazov, reported that specialists from the Research Institute for Seismic-Resistant Construction of the Ministry of Construction and Architecture conducted seismic studies of the area using artificial intelligence. Soil density, characteristics, and local climate factors were key considerations. Based on these, various facilities are being built within the city limits of Arkadag.
Projects built by local entrepreneurs applied modern innovative methods and years of experience in construction.
Hero-Arkadag emphasized that roofing materials and concrete for roadside zones must meet high international standards and be selected for their color, strength, and aesthetic appeal, considering the country’s climate. Landscaping around the interchange and creation of green zones will create unique architectural harmony and improve the area's environmental situation.
The Hero-Arkadag, an Honored Architect of Turkmenistan, also reviewed several design projects.
Chairman Deryageldi Orazov and the Mayor (Hyakim) of Arkadag, Gulshat Mammedova, presented information on the design projects and their features.
These included social and industrial facilities planned for the second phase of Arkadag's development, the Göktepe Avenue road interchange, and others.
Hero-Arkadag reviewed the submitted projects, made several remarks, and suggested adjustments, particularly regarding road infrastructure.
He also recalled the opening of a plant in Baherden etrap of Ahal velayat on March 12, attended by Arkadagly Hero Serdar, with an annual capacity of 3.3 million square meters of decorative ceramic tiles and 120,000 units of sanitaryware. Chairman Orazov proposed using the products of the Bäherden ceramic plant for the first time in Arkadag city construction.
Hero-Arkadag supported the idea, noting that domestic production replaces imports and that production capacity is being steadily developed, and stated that the plant’s products would be used on a permanent basis.
Roofing materials, road concrete, ceramics, and other construction materials must be of high quality, aesthetically pleasing, and resistant to weather conditions.
Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty noted that Göktepe and Keymir Kör Avenues will link the under-construction railway and motor transport stations in Arkadag, forming a unified road transport infrastructure system — a key element in the city's development.
He instructed officials to thoroughly prepare for the opening ceremony of the road interchange and then proceeded toward Arkadag along Keymir Kör Avenue.
In Arkadag city, the National Leader held a working meeting with State Committee Chairman Deryageldi Orazov and Mayor Gulshat Mammedova.
Chairman Orazov expressed gratitude to the President and Hero-Arkadag for state support and valuable guidance.
He reported on the progress of the city’s second phase, the medical cluster development, construction material characteristics, and quality.
Hero-Arkadag stressed the importance of proper landscaping, modern standards, and strict quality control for all materials used in construction.
Mayor Mammedova informed about preparations for the opening of the road interchange and ongoing efforts in other areas. She also presented the cultural program being prepared for key events in the city.
Hero-Arkadag emphasized that national celebrations are held at a high level and that the ceremony for such a vital infrastructure facility should reflect Turkmen traditions with global significance. As building roads and structures are considered noble deeds, the atmosphere of the ceremonies should be in line with ancestral customs.
He called for determined efforts to implement the “Program of the President of Turkmenistan for the Socio-Economic Development of the Country for 2022–2028” and issued specific instructions to the responsible leaders.
Hero-Arkadag inspected the multi-level interchange along Göktepe Avenue and noted how the design reflects the link between past and future. He reaffirmed that the noble traditions of constructing roads and buildings continue in alignment with the modern spirit.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov also inspected the mosque under construction in Arkadag, noting contributions from both domestic and foreign donors. He expressed gratitude and gave instructions regarding preparations for the interchange’s opening ceremony.
