G. Karasin highly appraised the effectiveness of Turkmenistan’s neutrality policy

In the latest issue (No. 3-4 (241-242)/2025) of the international magazine “Turkmenistan” under the heading “Article of the Issue” an article by the Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Grigory Karasin “Foundations of Strategic Cooperation: the Policy of Neutrality is tightly embedded into the system of Russian-Turkmen partnership” was published.

The article by a prominent Russian politician and statesman describes the uniqueness of Turkmen neutrality, emphasizing the undoubted value of the experience of its application for peacekeeping purposes both for the Central Asian region and in the global dimension.

The author states that Turkmenistan’s ideas about equal and balanced interstate dialogue based on firm adherence to the fundamental goals and principles of the UN Charter are consonant with Russian approaches to international affairs.

According to G. Karasin, the dynamic and trusting nature of the dialogue between the two countries is set by the Presidents of Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation – S.Berdimuhamedov and V.Putin.

In the context of multifaceted political-diplomatic, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian cooperation, the article notes that there are all the necessary conditions for the progressive development of Turkmen-Russian relations – “political will, economic expediency, similar foreign policy priorities and, most importantly, the wish of our peoples to maintain close and trusting communication”.

Touching upon the topic of interparliamentary cooperation, the Russian senator emphasizes the invaluable contribution of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan G.Berdimuhamedov to strengthening this vector of Turkmen-Russian relations.

The article also states that deepened strategic partnership meets the fundamental interests of the citizens of Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation. It is this important factor that largely contributes to strengthening peace, security and stability in the Central Asian region.
