A youth dialogue dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality, the 80th anniversary of the United Nations, and the International Year of Peace and Trust was held at the National Library in Dushanbe. The event was organized by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Tajikistan.
Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Tajikistan Aymyrat Gochmyradov noted in his address that this year is of particular significance for Turkmenistan, which is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the recognition of its permanent neutrality – a unique international legal status enshrined in the UN General Assembly Resolution of December 12, 1995, and subsequently reaffirmed three times by the international community.
In her address, UN Resident Coordinator in Tajikistan Parvathi Ramaswamy praised Turkmenistan's contribution to promoting neutrality and trust. She noted that Turkmenistan's policy of permanent neutrality serves as an example of a peaceful and constructive approach to international relations.
During the discussions, special attention was paid to the role of neutrality in strengthening international partnerships, as well as Turkmenistan's interaction with the United Nations in achieving the shared goals of peace and sustainable development.
