Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Ahmet Gurbanov met with the Regional Representative of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights for Central Asia (OHCHR) Matilde Bogner on 4 September.
During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on further strengthening of co-operation between Turkmenistan and OHCHR. In this context, it was stressed that Turkmenistan is pursuing a multifaceted partnership with relevant international organisations in order to further improve democratic institutions and effectively fulfil its human rights obligations.
The work of the Interdepartmental Commission to ensure fulfilment of Turkmenistan's international human rights and international humanitarian law obligations was reviewed.
They also discussed the implementation of the National Plan of Action on Human Rights in Turkmenistan for 2021-2025, the National Plan of Action on Gender Equality in Turkmenistan for 2021-2025 and the National Plan of Action for the Realisation of Children's Rights in Turkmenistan for 2023-2028.
The participants in the meeting discussed the results of the dialogues held within the framework of the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women and the Committee on the Rights of the Child, and also stressed their intention to cooperate in implementing the recommendations of the dialogues on a systematic basis.
The interlocutors expressed interest in expanding cooperation with the UN in the area of "Human Rights Education".
