Under the initiative of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and under the leadership of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the country’s energy policy is being consistently implemented with the goal of ensuring the comprehensive development of the oil and gas industry and its successful integration into the global energy system. Large-scale investment projects in this area play a key role in strengthening both regional and global energy security.

Rich in hydrocarbon resources, Turkmenistan seeks to expand the geography of its energy supplies and to develop effective partnerships with leading oil, gas, and financial organizations.

The country places special emphasis on building a new architecture of energy security that meets modern demands, introducing energy-saving technologies, developing renewable energy sources, and producing hydrogen — the “fuel of the future.”

Exporting Turkmen natural gas to international markets is one of the main directions of the nation’s energy strategy. Major gas fields such as “Galkynysh” and “Uzynada” strengthen Turkmenistan’s position among the world’s leaders in natural gas reserves. State concerns, together with international partners — notably the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) — are actively engaged in exploration and development of new deposits on the right bank of the Amu Darya River.

At the same time, Turkmenistan is expanding the capacities of modern industrial enterprises specializing in deep processing of hydrocarbon raw materials. The goal is not only to meet domestic demand but also to create a raw material base for the development of the petrochemical industry, thereby increasing the share of high value-added products in exports. Within the framework of the Development Program until 2030, the construction of new gas-chemical complexes is planned.

Alongside global trends, Turkmenistan pays special attention to ecology and sustainable development. The modernization of the country’s fuel and energy complex is carried out in accordance with environmental standards, providing a foundation for the introduction of “green” technologies and a careful attitude toward nature.

Turkmenistan is actively expanding cooperation with foreign investors in processing energy resources, implementing environmentally safe industries, exchanging advanced technologies, and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

Annual specialized exhibitions and conferences, such as OGT-2025, serve as an important international platform for promoting the development of Turkmenistan’s fuel and energy complex and for strengthening international cooperation in this strategically significant sector.
