Consultation with the people is the foundation of statehood. The convening of the Halk Maslahaty (People’s Council) of Turkmenistan on September 19 in the capital city of Ashgabat — on the eve of the 34th anniversary of our sacred independence — under the chairmanship of our Hero Arkadag and with the participation of our esteemed President, testifies to the enrichment of our nation's democratic traditions with modern experience.
At the session of the Halk Maslahaty, based on the accumulated national experience of resolving state-level and nationwide issues through consultation with the people, important nationwide initiatives and decisions were adopted. These were aimed at further consolidating the achievements gained over the years of independence, discussing key future-oriented matters, and defining specific tasks for the well-being of our people.
In his historically significant address at the session, the Honorable President stated:
"We are successfully implementing a policy aimed at the large-scale development of the oil and gas sector and its active integration into the international energy system. Extensive work is being carried out in our country on the extraction, processing, and export of hydrocarbon resources."
This statement reflects the dynamic growth of one of the key sectors of the national economy.
The successful construction of the Serhetabat–Herat gas pipeline along the Arkadag route — which constitutes a key phase of the Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India (TAPI) gas pipeline project — and the step-by-step development of the Galkynysh gas field within the country are contributing to the increase in hydrocarbon export volumes and ensuring their reliable delivery.
