As Turkmenistan celebrates the 34th anniversary of its independence, the country has, in a relatively short time, gained significant international recognition as a democratic, secular, and law-based state. These achievements have been made possible under the policy of Permanent Neutrality, which forms the foundation of the country's national strategy.
In the Era of Revival of a Powerful State, Turkmenistan has put forward international initiatives aimed at strengthening global peace, mutual understanding, and sustainable development. These efforts are rooted in foreign policy principles that prioritize stability and cooperation.
The legal status of Turkmenistan's Permanent Neutrality, recognized three times by United Nations General Assembly resolutions, has further solidified the country's constructive role in international peacebuilding. This status enables Turkmenistan to act as a reliable partner both regionally and globally.
Permanent Neutrality and preventive diplomacy are fundamental pillars of Turkmenistan's foreign policy. Their synergy plays an important role in building trust and promoting dialogue between nations. Turkmenistan firmly adheres to the principles of non-interference in internal affairs, equal partnership, and mutual respect.
Currently, the state policy pursued under the leadership of esteemed President Serdar Berdimuhamedov fully aligns with the international legal framework and core principles of neutrality. This policy not only ensures domestic stability but also reinforces trust and cooperation in the international arena.
Turkmenistan’s foreign policy strategy is aimed at fostering broad international partnerships by expanding cooperation in the fields of energy, transport, and investment. At the same time, the country actively continues its engagement with the United Nations. The adoption of numerous resolutions by the UN General Assembly upon Turkmenistan’s initiative is a clear indicator of the global community’s confidence in the country.
Notably, in March of this year, the UN General Assembly unanimously adopted the resolution titled “Permanent Neutrality of Turkmenistan” for the third time. This stands as another remarkable success for Turkmenistan’s diplomacy on the global stage.
Turkmenistan's worthy contribution to strengthening peace and trust across the world is a clear testament to the effective implementation of its policy of Permanent Neutrality. Based on these principles, the country’s foreign policy will continue along a stable and productive path.
