On July 7, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a working meeting via digital system with participation of Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers T. Atahalliyev and provincial governors. The meeting addressed issues related to the country’s agricultural sector and the ongoing regional activities.
The governors reported on the progress of ongoing seasonal agricultural work in the regions.
They also informed about the state of construction of cultural, social, and industrial facilities scheduled to be commissioned in the regions this year as part of the 2022–2028 Presidential Program for the socio-economic development of Turkmenistan and the National Rural Program.
After hearing the reports, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the importance of carrying out current seasonal work, particularly the maintenance of cotton crops and laying the foundation for next year’s harvest of agricultural crops in accordance with agrotechnical standards. He gave specific instructions to the governors in this regard.
The Head of State also ordered strict oversight of the quality and timely completion of construction work at facilities planned for commissioning in the regions this year.
During the meeting, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers T. Atahalliyev also reported on the seasonal agricultural campaigns across the country.
It was noted that care measures are ongoing in the rice fields of Dashoguz and Lebap provinces, while sowing of sugar beet is continuing in Mary province. In areas where sugar beet has sprouted, maintenance is being carried out according to agrotechnical norms.
Having heard the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov stressed that the state gives special attention to developing the agricultural sector, allocating large funds to purchase modern agricultural machinery, introduce water-saving technologies, build new irrigation systems, and improve seed production and livestock farming.
In this regard, the Vice-Premier was instructed to continuously monitor the effective implementation of the sector's tasks to strengthen food abundance in the country and ensure raw material supply to the processing industry.
Then, addressing the meeting participants, the Head of State once again highlighted the significance of seasonal agrotechnical activities and instructed to ensure proper cotton field maintenance according to agrotechnical requirements, and timely preparation of wheat and other crop seeds for the next year's harvest.
Concluding the working meeting held via digital system, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov wished the participants good health, family well-being, and great success in their work.
