The National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, met with the President of Daewoo Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd., Mr. Beck Jung-Wan.

Expressing gratitude for the time allocated for the meeting, the head of the largest company in the Republic of Korea emphasized his pleasure in visiting our country on the eve of an important event – the anniversary celebration of the opening of a "smart" city, which has become a hallmark of modern, rapidly developing Turkmenistan.

Warmly welcoming the guest to the ancient and hospitable Turkmen land, the Hero-Arkadag expressed confidence that this visit would provide a good opportunity to discuss prospective areas of cooperation.

As emphasized, developing effective relations with countries of the Asia-Pacific region, including the Republic of Korea – one of the world's developed countries, is a priority in Turkmenistan's foreign policy strategy.

For many years, effective work has been carried out to develop political, diplomatic, trade-economic, cultural, and parliamentary ties between the two countries.

According to the general opinion, a new chapter in the history of interstate relations was opened by the recent state visit of the President of the Republic of Korea, Yun Sok Yol, to Turkmenistan, during which important agreements were reached and a substantial package of documents aimed at deepening mutually beneficial partnership and enriching its content was signed.

Implementing a comprehensive transformative strategy aimed at fundamental modernization and industrialization of the national economy, our country focuses on introducing advanced, innovative technologies and the best foreign experience.

Not coincidentally, new areas of cooperation became the subject of interested discussion at the Turkmen-Korean business forum held in Ashgabat during the Korean leader's visit, attended by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and President of the Republic of Korea, Yun Sok Yol.

Forum participants expressed mutual interest in intensifying longstanding partnership, identifying several promising areas for further joint work. These include oil and gas chemistry, energy, transportation and communications infrastructure, shipbuilding, industry, construction and infrastructure, agriculture, and the implementation of innovative digital and environmentally friendly technologies, among others.

Alongside these sectors, Korean companies show particular interest in participating in the construction of a medical cluster in the "smart" city of Arkadag, implementing the urban development mega-project "Ashgabat City," as well as in carrying out other national and regional projects of significance.

Business circles of the Republic of Korea contribute significantly to expanding bilateral economic relations, exemplified by joint projects and the effective operation of major Korean companies in various sectors of the Turkmen economy, primarily in the oil and gas and chemical industries.

"Considering the socio-economic development programs being implemented in Turkmenistan, large-scale reforms and favorable conditions created for foreign business, there is an opportunity to develop cooperation in new directions," said the National Leader of the Turkmen people.

It was emphasized that special attention in our country is paid to the reliability of constructed facilities and their compliance with environmental standards. Great importance is attached to the introduction of the latest achievements in science and technology and attracting foreign capital. In this regard, fruitful cooperation between the State Concern "Türkmenhimiýa" and Daewoo Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd. was noted.

At the end of the meeting, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the President of Daewoo Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd. wished each other good health, prosperity, and great success in their activities, expressing confidence that the longstanding mutually beneficial partnership would continue to develop successfully.
