Daewoo E&C Chairman Jeong Won-ju visited Turkmenistan from June 26 to 30 to discuss new business opportunities and strengthen the company's presence in the Central Asian market, the company said in a statement on July 1.
During his visit, Jeong Won-ju met with Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President Serdar Berdimuhamedov in Ashgabat. He expressed appreciation for Daewoo E&C's participation in the Turkmenabat Fertilizer Plant project and reaffirmed the company's commitment to its successful completion.
Jeong Won-ju also discussed potential participation in upcoming gas field and petrochemical plant development projects, opportunities for cooperation in the railway sector, subway construction and high-rise buildings.
In addition, the Chairman of the Board of Daewoo E&C met with Vice-Chairman for Construction, Energy and Industry Baymyrat Annamammedov to express gratitude to Turkmenistan for Daewoo E&C's offer to participate in new petrochemical plant projects. He expressed the company's interest in assisting a number of infrastructure initiatives that support Turkmenistan's economic growth.
Next, Jeong Won-ju met with Vice-Chairman for Oil and Gas Issues Batyr Amanov and Chairman of the State Concern "Turkmengas" Maksat Babayev to discuss Daewoo E&C's participation in new projects in the oil and gas industry.
The visit's program also included meetings with Vice-Chairman for Finance and Economy Hojamurat Geldimyradov and South Korean Ambassador to Turkmenistan Ji Kyu Taek, which were dedicated to diversifying the entry of Korean businesses into the Turkmen market. A Daewoo E&C representative said that Turkmenistan is a strategic market for the company, which plans to expand its business portfolio and accelerate localization. Daewoo E&C aims to strengthen its position in the region through continuous interaction with management and network building, the company said.
