UN Secretary-General António Guterres has arrived in Turkmenistan to participate in the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, held on the Caspian coast.
The National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov sincerely welcomed the UN Secretary-General and noted that he was glad to see him on the sacred Turkmen land.
Hero-Arkadag emphasized that the unanimous adoption of the Resolution “Additional information on the modalities of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries” at the 63rd plenary meeting of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly was a decision demonstrating the high authority of independent, permanently neutral Turkmenistan in the international arena.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said that it was a great honor for him to take part in the International Forum of universal importance held in Turkmenistan, which follows the path of harmonious development.
Confidence was expressed that the agreements that will be reached as a result of discussions within the International Conference, covering current issues of our time, will have a positive impact on the economies of countries around the world.
Speaking about the importance of exchanging views on important issues and making appropriate decisions regarding the future development of landlocked states, Hero-Arkadag emphasized that the organization and holding of the High-Level Forum under the auspices of the UN is considered as a universal trust placed in Turkmenistan.
It was noted that the Conference will contribute to increasing the economic potential of developing landlocked countries, developing interregional and international relations in the trade and economic sphere. As stated, parallel events, as well as meetings and negotiations between relevant structures are planned within the framework of the Forum.
Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of holding the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries in the year of the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality and the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations.
Wishes were expressed for success in the activities of the Forum, covering important topics of developing relations in the transport and logistics sector and transport diplomacy in general, as well as confidence that the decisions taken will contribute to the harmonious development of the countries.
Having once again welcomed the distinguished guest to the Turkmen land, Hero-Arkadag thanked him for his efforts to hold a world-class Forum in Turkmenistan.
