In the first half of 2024, steady growth of oil production in the industrial sector is achieved

On July 12, Serdar Berdimuhamedov held an extended meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, where the results of the work of various economic sectors over the past six months were summarized, and the implementation progress of the adopted socio-economic development programs was discussed. The agenda included defining prospective tasks for the second half of the year and personnel issues. Reports from Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers, heads of various government structures, and regional governors were also heard.

Representatives of the Mejlis, members of the State Security Council, heads of regional and city administrations, rectors of higher education institutions, editors of newspapers and magazines, and other leaders were invited to the meeting.

Chairman of the State Committee for Statistics D. Amanmukhammedov reported on the implementation of plans by ministries and industry departments for January-June of this year.

As reported, the first half of the year showed stable growth in the industrial sector. In particular, natural gas production amounted to 40,230.1 million cubic meters, and oil production reached 4,163.7 thousand tons. Compared to the corresponding period of 2023, the production of petroleum bitumen increased by 13.2 percent, fuel oil by 31.7 percent, sheet glass by 7.9 percent, cement by 6.8 percent, fish catch by 34.2 percent, processed and canned fish products by 16.5 percent, dairy products by 14.1 percent, butter by 10.8 percent, and confectionery products by 5.6 percent.

Positive indicators are observed in the transport and communication sector, confirmed by an increase in freight and passenger transportation. The volume of communication services increased by 12.7 percent.

In agriculture, compared to the same period in 2023, vegetable production increased by 7.4 percent, potato production by 11.4 percent, berry and fruit production by 1.2 percent, milk production by 0.5 percent, and meat production in net weight by 0.6 percent over the six months.

Dynamic indicators were noted in the non-state sector of the economy from January to June. For instance, the production of silk fabric increased by 1.4 percent, confectionery products by 5.9 percent, butter by 15.3 percent, dairy products by 14.5 percent, pasta products by 64.1 percent, bread and bakery products by 7 percent, vegetables by 9.3 percent, potatoes by 5.8 percent, and milk by 0.5 percent.

The head of the State Committee also reported on ongoing work to align statistical reporting forms and data collection methods with current realities, and the implementation of modern methods and digital technologies into the system.
