The policy of permanent neutrality has created favorable conditions for the successful resolution of national economic development tasks in our country. This status has become an effective mechanism for attracting foreign investments aimed at developing the natural resources of Turkmenistan, launching large-scale economic projects in the extraction of hydrocarbon resources, and introducing them to the global market. This trend is clearly evident across various sectors, including the oil and gas industry.
Turkmenistan is among the largest countries with significant hydrocarbon reserves. At the same time, our country, consistently advocating for global energy security, directs its extracted natural resources to improve the welfare of its people and meet the needs of all humanity.
Turkmenistan's initiatives to ensure the reliability and security of energy resource supplies to global markets have received wide support from the United Nations, as evidenced by the adoption of relevant resolutions. Guided by the principles of permanent neutrality, Turkmenistan is actively working on diversifying export routes for its oil and gas resources and implementing a set of practical measures to develop international cooperation in this field. In this context, the "Turkmenistan Oil and Gas Industry Development Program until 2030" is being systematically implemented.
The production capacity of the country's fuel and energy complex is dynamically increasing, and international-scale projects are being realized in the oil and gas sector. Among them is the TAPI pipeline project (Turkmenistan – Afghanistan – Pakistan – India), which is of strategic importance for ensuring the energy security of the region. This project is supported by reputable international financial institutions. It not only ensures the supply of Turkmen natural gas to South Asian countries but also strengthens economic cooperation and contributes to the maintenance of peace and stability in the region.
At the expanded Government meeting held on February 7 of this year, the esteemed President approved the "Turkmenistan Socio-Economic Development and Investment Program for 2025." The Head of State emphasized that, alongside other sectors of the economy, the modernization of the oil and gas industry will continue in the coming year. In this regard, important tasks were set to ensure reliable gas supplies to domestic and foreign consumers, increase production capacities in the oil and gas sector, and implement advanced technologies.
Special attention was given to accelerating the development of the "Galkynysh" gas field, the implementation of the TAPI pipeline project, and the construction of its key section – the Serhetabad-Gerat pipeline. Priority areas include the development of new prospective fields and the exploration of oil-rich areas. The esteemed President instructed to intensify efforts to increase the capacities of the Turkmenbashi oil refinery complex and the Seydi refinery, accelerate geological exploration of hydrocarbon fields, and continue the implementation of digital technologies in the oil and gas sector.
Turkmenistan consistently uses its international legal status of permanent neutrality in the interests of global peace and prosperity. This factor contributes to the development of friendly relations both within Central Asia and the Caspian region and globally. By consistently fulfilling its international obligations, our country actively participates in global processes, making a significant contribution to strengthening peace, harmony, and mutual understanding between nations.
Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality, ensuring regional stability, plays an essential role in energy and environmental security issues, as well as in the development of modern international transport and communication systems. The thorough study and implementation of these strategic initiatives are a sacred duty for every citizen of our country.
