The delegation of Turkmenistan headed by Minister of Finance and Economy Serdar Jorayev took part in the second EU-Central Asia Economic Forum held on May 19 in Almaty. This was reported by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Kazakhstan.
The Turkmen delegation participated in the high-level plenary session on strengthening trade and economic relations between the European Union and Central Asia.
The main topics of the forum were the promotion of cooperation between the EU and the Central Asian countries in areas such as the green and digital transition and the improvement of the business environment. Participants also considered trade development opportunities taking into account existing EU initiatives and strategies developed jointly with the governments of Central Asian countries.
As a result of the forum, a Joint Statement for the Press was adopted.
On the sidelines of the forum, the delegation of Turkmenistan held meetings with the Executive Vice-President of the European Commission Valdis Dombrowski, Vice-Chancellor of the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Global Affairs Märt Vollmer and Executive Director of the World Trade Center Pamela Coke-Hamilton.
During the talks, the state of partnership and the potential for expanding cooperation in the field of transport infrastructure, green energy, agriculture, and the oil and gas industry were discussed.
The parties also considered the possibility of attracting foreign investment in the strategically important sectors of the economy of Turkmenistan.
