On October 24, 2024, the first political consultations between Turkmenistan and the United Mexican States took place in the format of a videoconference, which was attended by the heads of structural divisions of the foreign ministries of the two countries.
A wide range of issues are on the agenda, including discussion of ways to build partnership in key areas such as energy, trade, economy, agriculture, education, culture and sports.
Special attention was paid to cooperation within the framework of international structures, in particular the UN. In this context, the participants reaffirmed their commitment to building a multilateral partnership.
Focusing on issues of cooperation in the trade and economic sphere, the parties considered the prospects for establishing contacts between business circles.
At the same time, issues of cultural exchange were discussed, including the possibility of implementing joint programs and organizing events.
The interlocutors stressed the importance of establishing links between specialized higher educational institutions – the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Mathias Romero Institute of Diplomatic Studies at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mexico.
In continuation of the topic of interstate cooperation, emphasis is placed on the importance of establishing bilateral interparliamentary contacts.
It was proposed to hold the next political consultations next year in Ashgabat.
