On October 7, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, delivered a speech at the 12th Summit of the Heads of State of the Organization of Turkic States, held in Azerbaijan.
“The Organization of Turkic States is an international structure that unites our friendly peoples, based on shared history, culture, spiritual heritage, and language. Its main goal is to strengthen unity, the bonds of friendship and brotherhood among the countries of the Turkic world, and to coordinate joint efforts and actions at both regional and international levels.
Taking this opportunity, I would like to remind you that, on the initiative of Turkmenistan, the United Nations General Assembly declared 2025 as the International Year of Peace and Trust. We extend a respectful invitation to all of you to attend the upcoming International Forum in Ashgabat on December 12 of this year, dedicated to this landmark event and the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s neutrality,” noted the Hero-Arkadag of Turkmenistan.
“Within the framework of relations between Turkic states, special importance is given to the cultural and humanitarian sphere. Cooperation in this area plays a vital role in preserving, developing, and promoting the unique national characteristics and spiritual values of our peoples around the world. In this regard, we propose strengthening efforts to organize joint cultural and public events. In particular, we are doing a great deal to organize Days of Culture, theatrical performances, various exhibitions, and film screenings.
We plan to hold Days of Turkmen Culture in Azerbaijan in the near future.
We are also making efforts to promote the carpet weaving traditions of our two peoples, as well as to cooperate in reviving the ancient art of horse breeding, particularly of the Akhal-Teke and Karabakh breeds. We are confident that these events will significantly contribute to the development of cultural ties. We also consider it appropriate to hold similar events with other brotherly countries.
Guided by the legacy of our ancestors to develop relations of friendship and brotherhood, Turkmenistan is always ready for more constructive and closer cooperation with all member states of the Organization of Turkic States to achieve the noble goals mentioned earlier, as well as to address the important tasks ahead,” emphasized the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty.
In conclusion, the National Leader of the Turkmen people wished everyone good health and great success in their work, and to the fraternal peoples of the Turkic states – well-being, prosperity, and a peaceful and happy life.
