A gas turbine power plant with a capacity of 432 MW is being prepared for commissioning in the Chardzhev etrap of the Lebap velayat. The construction of the facility, the opening of which will be timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's independence, is being carried out by the Japanese company Sumitomo Corporation. The station is equipped with gas turbine equipment from another world famous Japanese company - Mitsubishi Power Ltd.
To date, three gas turbines with a capacity of 144 MW each have been installed here, auxiliary facilities have been built and are ready for operation. Distribution installations located on the territory of the station, intended for the transmission of generated electricity, are connected to a common power system. At the moment, the main installations are being commissioned.
The commissioning of the gas turbine power plant will help increase the capacity of the country's energy system, improve the reliability and quality of electricity supply to consumers in the Lebap velayat, as well as expand the possibilities of exporting Turkmen electricity abroad, primarily to neighboring countries - the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
